Overview - NoAdware is a well established
solution for blocking, detecting and removing, adware,
spyware and many other threats. NoAdware has
also been the dominant player of its category on
the largest digital market place Clickbank, with over 47
million downloads. The purpose of our review was
to concentrate on the latest version of the
software NoAdware V5.0 (NoAdware5).

Out tests focused
on both the protection and removal of adware and
spyware, including threats such
as Trojan, Dialers, and Web Bug traces.
Our conclusions are based
upon our independent tests, which covered blocking,
detecting and removing these
threats.
We set
challenging test conditions - We installed NoAdware V5.0
on computers, with the following features which are
representative of many computers today: The computers
were already equipped with anti-virus software. The
computers had run for about one year, and from a
software standpoint had several software installed
which were initially downloaded from the internet .
This included software which are known to use
harmless adware (e.g. Babylon), and to make the test
more challenging we also used systems infected with
a particular Trojan causing sudden system restore
and replicating itself across the registry. The Trojan in
question could not be removed by our antivirus
software (the anti-virus software had been kept up
to date had been developed by a leading
brand which claimed to offer Trojan
protection).
NoAdware V5.0 offers excellent
protection - NoAdware V5.0 blocking functions
present themselves as a series of "shields", which from a user
perspective can easily be enabled or disabled by ticking or
unticking any of the configuration boxes.
The ActiveX
shield (shown) is particularly well designed in that it
offers protection for 586 types of
undesirable threats and does not require user
intervention (other less advanced software require users
to allow or disallow ActiveX downloads including
undesirable ones, which increases the risk of
infection).
Another
well designed feature of NoAdware V5.0 is the cookie
protection feature, which enables users to reject cookies
by default, and accept them from trusted source by
exception. This matters because many reputtable website also
rely on cookies to deliver the right user experience (i.e.
most interactive websites today), so users can continue to
enjoy the same online experience with the added piece of mind
that NoAdware V5.0 brings.
Finally
from a protection standpoint we liked the fact that NoAware
V5.0 can actually prevent undesirable URLs to be planted in the
users favorites list. This is an important feature particularly
for families who want to keep control of the websites,
which younger users may
be visiting.
NoAdware V5.0 removal function is
one of the fastest and most effective
-The full
scan only took 10 minutes on average, and
unlike other software, NoAdware V5.0 successfully
detected and removed the Trojan which we had planted on
our test computers.
We particularly liked the fact
that each threat is assessed by the software
according to its severity. So for instance tracking
cookies are mostly deemed not critical whereas
the Trojan we planted was recognised as serious. This is
important in our view as it puts the users in control and
enable them to make informed decisions on whether or not
to remove any items detected by the
software.
NoAdware V5.0 offers excellent
value - The trial version is free and a single
user licence only costs $47.
Conclusion
- NoAdware
V5.0 passed our tests with flying colours
- and is the continuing proof
that the heavy investments that
NoAdware.net are making in continuously developing
and adapting their software to respond to new threats
keep on paying off.
